Galicia:

The autonomous community of Galicia is located in the north-west of the country of Spain. Along with other Spanish autononous communities, Galicia shares its borders with Portugal in the south and the Atlantic Ocean to the north and west.
Galicia is made up of four provinces: La Coruña, Lugo, Orense y Pontevedra, and its capital is Santiago de Compostela. The climate of Galicia is warm and wet along the coast, but as you go inland it becomes drier

History:

Galicia was colonized first by the ancient Celtics in the sixth century B.C. Along with most of the Iberian peninsula, Galicia was controlled by the Roman Empire for hundreds of years, until the barbarian invasions during the last part of the first millenium.  After the Reconquist of Spain from the Moors, christian Galicia maintain its independence until its assimilation by the Spainish king Alfonso VI in the year. Galicia was an important place for religious pilgrims from all over Europe because of the tomb of the apostle Saint James. In the modern era, Galicia became an autonomous community in Spain on the 6 of April, 1981.


General Facts:

The population of Galicia is 3 million people con a population density of 100 persons per square kilometer, which is more than any other part of Spain.  cuadrados, el cual es más que el promedio en España. Although Galicia is part of Spain, it does have its own government and parliament and Galicia has two official languages: Galician and Spainsh. Economically, Galicia depends on both its traditional exports of agriculture, a fishing industry, and cattle raising as well as modern industry.
