The graduate students of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at UC Santa Barbara invite you all to join the XXI Hispanic and Lusophone Conference: "Approaches to a more inclusive and equitable university" on Thursday, April 27 to Friday, April 28.
We propose a debate on fostering a more inclusive and diverse academia. Referred to as a place where knowledge is produced, the university is still envisioned as a space of freedom; however, it is also a place of displacement for silenced and underrepresented voices. Some examples of this circle back to academic curricula that seem to resist implementing new approaches to institutionalized methodologies.
