Telvis Márquez earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Literature from California State University, Northridge (CSUN), with a minor in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL). In addition, she completed a Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language at CSUN before earning a Master of Arts in Spanish from the same institution. Her primary academic interests lie in Latin American literature, with a particular focus on the intersections of history, memory, identity, and gender in modern and contemporary literary works. Her research explores how literature reflects and challenges social and cultural structures across Latin America, particularly through the voices of authors whose works recover marginalized stories and experiences. Beyond academia, Telvis is passionate about teaching, reading contemporary Latin American fiction, and engaging in conversations about literature, culture, and the ways storytelling shapes our understanding of the world.
