We warmly invite everyone to join us for Speaking in Tongues / Hablando en Lenguas: A Bilingual Poetry Reading and Conversation, featuring poets Minerva Reynosa (Monterrey, México) and Aideed Medina (Salinas, California), on March 5, 2026, from 5:00–7:00 pm in the McCune Conference Room (6020 Humanities and Social Sciences Building) at UC Santa Barbara.
This event will center on bilingual and transborder literary production across Spanish, English, and translation, with a conversation engaging themes of migration, language, ecology, and community. It is organized by the Department of Spanish and Portuguese’s Transborder Culture Lab, with the support of Professor Priscilla Solis Ybarra and Professor Ben Olguín.
The reading and dialogue are open to students, faculty, and the broader public, particularly those interested in Chicanx/Latinx studies, poetry, translation, and cross-border cultural exchange. The format will include a bilingual reading followed by a moderated conversation and Q&A.
