Join us to explore the three central notions associated with the manifold transformations of the Mediterranean Sea in modern times: memory, movement, and migration. It is at the crossroads of these three axes that we speak of a Mediterranean Matrix.
Stellar and up-and-coming scholars will be paying attention to film, literature, political and philosophical thought, history and music. The program includes the participation of the UCSB Middle Eastern Ensemble on Thursday May 8, 2014 with music from Andalusia, North Africa, Egypt and the eastern Mediterranean to complement the presentations.
